Nothing To Fight About

Pastor Mike Foster continues our series Grafted In with a message where theological debates about losing salvation, that always end up with Christians acting very un-Christlike, are not the point. Hebrews is a letter. New Testament letters are inherently pastoral. They guide souls, not replace chains Jesus freed us from with new ones. The take home point is pastoral, that if we keep on loving others, it’s impossible for us to be spiritually complacent, stagnating. We should not try to make doctrine and theology out things that aren’t doctrinal or theological, and historical Christianity largely saw the text in light of pastoral guidance into loving others ensuring we are not spiritually dull and sluggish- that love carries us beyond the basic elementary beginnings of the word of Christ.
